Brenda brings over 28 years of professional planning practice and extensive experience in all phases of municipal planning. Twenty years have been spent within coastal cities, currently serving as Development Services Director for the City of Encinitas.  Prior to this she was employed at the cities of Newport Beach, San Clemente and Dana Point.  Her career includes both hands-on project management and playing a leadership role.  Highlights of her career include management of three General Plan updates, downtown revitalization efforts, as well as the development and implementation of programs which encourage alternative transportation.  She also has extensive experience in historic preservation and compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act.  Brenda’s interest is to dispel the “mystery” of local government by making the local government more accessible and transparent through the use of technology, as well as basic quality customer service.
